At admission, individuals complete education testing, and those who did not finish high school before incarceration may participate in a variety of programs to earn a high school diploma. These men at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) recently spent time exploring this question as part of The 7 Habits on the Inside program.

This 12-week program uses the principles of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, tailored for the incarcerated individual. Participants learn to be proactive, understand the power of their choices and become positive role models for their families and friends.

Non-clinical programs are designed to address the way a person thinks and behaves. These programs are typically completed within the first third of an individual's sentence and are an important foundation for positive change.

Today we’re giving a shoutout to a fantastic community partner: Metropolitan Community College (MCC) 180 Re-entry Assistance Program (180 RAP).

MCC is a Second Chance Pell Grant provider, which supports individuals participating in post-secondary education at our facilities. Credit classes are offered at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women, Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility, Omaha Correctional Center and Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.
