June 6, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – An inmate who was reported missing on June 3, 2021 has returned to the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS). Ronald Sowards #88157 came back to the Community Correctional Center-Lincoln (CCC-L) on June 5, 2021.

Sowards started his sentence on August 20, 2018. He was sentenced to eight to 12 years for burglary in Lancaster County as well as burglary and possession/receiving a stolen firearm in Saunders County....Read more

June 3, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L). Staff members noted that the electronic monitoring device worn by Ronald Sowards #88157 indicated no movement for several hours today while he was in the community. Attempts to locate him were not successful. Sowards later contacted the facility indicating that he was on his way back. He did not return.

June 2, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) is moving forward on a number of projects in response to legislative action taken during the session.

NDCS is proceeding with the search for a consultant who will draft documents to guide construction of 96 additional beds at the soon-to-be-combined Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC) and Diagnostic Evaluation Center (DEC). June 1, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – A missing inmate has turned himself in. Patrick Carey #86000 returned to the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L) this afternoon, one day after failing to return to the facility from work. Carey was reported missing to authorities yesterday. He has been admitted back to the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS).

June 1, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L). Patrick Carey #86000 left his assigned work location on Monday, May 31, 2021 and did not return to the facility following his shift. The electronic monitoring device he had been wearing was found inside a toolbox at the work site.

May 25, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Michelle Dicini, (38), a corporal at the Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC) was arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol today for unauthorized communication with a prisoner (Neb. Rev. Stat. §83-417) and sexual abuse of an inmate (Neb. Rev. Stat. §28-322.01). Both are felony offenses.

Dicini has been employed by the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) since April 15, 2019. This is the only facility where she has worked. Dicini...Read more

May 22, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Michael Kirchhoff #82788, age 58, died today at a Lincoln hospital. He was incarcerated at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP).

Kirchhoff’s sentence stared on September 18, 2015. He was serving a 10- to 12-year sentence for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) out of Lancaster County.

May 21, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – An inmate who failed to return to the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L) following his job assignment has been arrested in Plymouth, Nebraska. Authorities took Armando Lerma #211543 into custody yesterday and booked him into the Lancaster County jail.
