April 3, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that five staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The staff members are employed at the following locations: Nebraska State Penitentiary (2), Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (1), Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (1) and the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (1). April 3, 2021 (Tecumseh, Neb) – An inmate at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) went to the hospital this morning for the treatment of serious* injuries resulting from an assault by two other inmates. The assault happened in an outside yard, shortly after 11:00 a.m.

During the incident, the injured inmate received cuts and puncture wounds to his arms and torso. Two homemade weapons were recovered by staff members. TSCI was placed on modified operations*...Read more

March 26, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Authorities are looking for an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L). Eric Kluthe #211330 did not return to his place of employment after a scheduled lunch break on March 25, 2021.

Kluthe’s sentence started March 25, 2020. He was sentenced three years on charges out of Platte County that include strangulation and third degree domestic assault. He has a tentative release date of June 23, 2021.

March 22, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. March 17, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Lincoln police arrested an inmate who left his work assignment and failed to return to the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L). Tony Smith #89262 was taken into custody at 33rd and O Street on the afternoon of March 16, 2021. He went missing that morning. Following his arrest, he was returned to the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS).

March 16, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) -- Authorities are looking for an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L). Tony Smith #89262 left his place of employment early this morning without permission. He was spotted getting into a vehicle with a female driver. Smith managed to remove the electronic monitoring device he was wearing. CCC-L staff members located the device in the area of 56th and Leighton Avenue.

March 15, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Keeva O’Neal #49501, age 48, died at a hospital in Lincoln just after 10:30 p.m. on March 14, 2021. He was incarcerated at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP).

O’Neal’s sentence started on April 2, 1997. He was serving a 45- to 65-year sentence out of Douglas County on multiple counts of first degree assault as well as use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

March 14, 2021 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – An inmate assaulted a staff member at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) today, resulting in a serious* injury.

The inmate approached the staff person and punched him several times in the head. Additional staff members arrived and assisted the original staff member in restraining the inmate. The staff member received treatment at a local hospital for injuries to his head.
