September 28, 2021(Lincoln, Neb.) – From a pair of team members honored for their volunteer work in the community to another who helped save a life on the roadway – those staff members and 32 others were honored for outstanding service to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) and the state. TSCI staff member injured in assault

September 23, 2021 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – An inmate assaulted a staff member at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) today, resulting in a serious injury*.

The staff member was unexpectedly headbutted by the inmate, resulting in an injury to his nose. The staff member was assisted by other teammates in restraining the inmate. The injured staff member was treated at the Johnson County Hospital.

September 16, 2021 (Omaha, Neb.) – An inmate assaulted a staff member at the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility (NCYF) today, resulting in a serious injury*.

The staff member was inside a classroom when the assault occurred. The inmate crossed the room and initially pushed the staff member in the chest. September 11, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Director of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) Scott R. Frakes announced that an inmate in his 60s died today at a hospital in Lincoln. The inmate tested positive for COVID-19 prior to being hospitalized. In addition to the coronavirus, he had underlying medical conditions.

Frakes announced that an inmate in his 30s died Friday, September 10, 2021 at a hospital in Lincoln. The inmate tested positive for COVID-19 prior to being hospitalized. Inmate missing from community correctional facility

September 9, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L). Zackery Carlstrom #212038 left the facility early this morning, having jumped over a fence. Staff responded to his last known location, as indicated by the electronic monitoring device he was wearing, but neither he nor the device were located.

September 4, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Summer Brandt (46), a nurse at the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L) and the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC), was arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol Friday, September 3, 2021 for unauthorized communication with a prisoner (Neb. Rev. Stat. §83-417) and sexual abuse of an inmate (Neb. Rev. Stat. §28-322.01). Both are felony offenses.

LCC/DEC move to new operational schedule

September 2, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – In order to maximize available staff at the Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC) and the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC), those facilities will shift to a new operational schedule on Monday, September 13, 2021. The move will consolidate primary activity to four, 12-hour days – Monday thru Thursday.
