The Work Ethic Camp road crews took to the highway and traveled to Curtis, Nebraska to support the Nebraska Forest Service with forest fuels reduction efforts. The road crews help cut down volunteer trees, clear branches and clean up any fallen limbs. This project helps forests better withstand catastrophic wildfires by removing hazardous brush from beneath the trees.

Road crews also deep cleaned machinery for Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) oil trucks and fit mats for the trucks at the Red Willow Fairgrounds. #CommunitySupport #MeaningfulWorkTrajectories #PositiveSocialEngagementRead more

Unit Administrators Hinzman and Gowan of Community Corrections Center-Lincoln, presented the Community Readiness orientation to Tecumseh State Correctional Institution staff. In these training sessions, teammates learned how to prepare incarcerated individuals for their transition into community correction centers.

It’s Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, and a new future awaits for these dogs who recently graduated from Second Chance Pups! The program carefully matches canines from local shelters and rescues with individuals at the Nebraska State Penitentiary to train them in basic obedience, while providing human socialization and interaction with other dogs.

Through the process, these men learn valuable skills and provide a service that is truly life-changing for the dogs and the families who will adopt them. It’s a win-win-win for all involved!
