Calling all part-time job seekers! There will be a job fair at Southeast Community College at 8800 O Street on April 29, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. This job fair focuses on part-time jobs. There are some great positions through NDCS with flexible hours and good starting wages that are open such as, Optometric Aide, Registered Nurse, Corrections Officer, Secretary and more!

As we prepare to wrap up National Volunteer Week (April 18-24), NDCS is giving a big shout out to the many volunteers (more than 1,000) who work with our incarcerated population.

Our volunteers play an essential role in the criminal justice system, largely by supporting reentry efforts. They provide direction, inspiration, instruction and so much more.

NDCS Team Member Spotlight: Process Improvement Coordinator Shaun Grantski

Process Improvement Coordinator Shaun Grantski is one of the NDCS teammates leading the charge to create positive change in the department. The process improvement team works with sponsors to identify initiatives that would enhance agency culture, facilitate effectiveness, create efficiencies and savings and put the focus on customers. Utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies, processes are improved by pinpointing problems and replacing them with smarter solutions.

You’ve heard of elf on the shelf, but have you heard of the bunny jar guessing game?

The Employee Activities Committee at Community Corrections Center – Lincoln hosted this candy guessing game. Staff had a week to study this bunny-shaped jar and submit their guesses on how many pieces of candy were in this jar. The winner would receive all of the candy and the jar.

Congratulations to Corporal Timothy Onofrei as he hopped through the competition with his guess of 77, but that wasn’t the eggxact number of candies in the jar.

A lot of things can happen in 43 years, but one thing has stayed consistent, Unit Manager Mark Danner being a part of NDCS. All things must come to an end, as today is Danner’s last day with the department and he embarks on a new adventure—retirement.

In the four decades since Danner was hired at NDCS, he has seen tremendous change. He values the many friends he has worked with through the years who have given him support and encouragement.
