It may still be summer but women at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW) are already looking towards the holiday season of giving. Twenty-eight women at NCCW worked hard to create 70 holiday cards, which will be given to U.S. military troops serving overseas to send back home to their families. These creative cards turned out fantastic and will surely bring joy to families across the country!

Thank you to these ladies for sharing your creative talents to make a difference. NCCW is planning to hold more of these events in the near future.

Congratulations to these 14 men at the Omaha Correctional Center (OCC) for graduating from the Intentional Peer Support (IPS) program through a partnership with the Mental Health Association of Nebraska (MHA-NE). IPS helps individuals recover from mental illness, addiction or trauma with the assistance of someone who has similar life experiences. Through training with MHA-NE staff, these men learned to see things from new angles, develop greater awareness of personal and relational patterns and support and challenge each other.

Prior to the graduation ceremony, the men celebrated with a BBQ-catered dinner.

Laughter could be heard from children, teens, mothers, fathers and other family members in the gymnasium at the Nebraska State Penitentiary for Family Fun Days this summer. The incarcerated population and their visiting family members enjoyed playing a variety of games, including basketball, cornhole, cards and Xbox. Family Fun Days give incarcerated individuals and their loved ones time together to connect as a family and to help keep relationships strong.

We hope all the families had a fun time at this event! #MakeADifferenceRead more

Women at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW) recently heard a transformational message from inspirational leaders: Don’t set limits on your own potential. These women participated in a simulcast of the two-day Global Leadership Summit, where numerous speakers convinced, encouraged, led and taught them to be effective leaders.

The summit was inspirational and motivational to all who were able to attend and listen to the speakers. Thank you to everyone at NCCW who helped make this event happen. #MakeADifferenceRead more

A big congratulations to these guys for graduating from the Thinking for a Change (T4C) program at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution. Developed by the National Institute of Corrections, T4C is a high-level cognitive behavioral program that utilizes role playing to help participants address attitudes, behavior, family, friends and change criminogenic thinking. These men have mastered the skills they’ve learned during their time in T4C.

We are proud of all the work they have put into their future success. #KeepPeopleSafe #MakeADifferenceRead more
