January 4, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that an initial box of the Moderna vaccine for COVID-19 has been received by the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS). Later this week, the first 50 doses will be given to health staff members who wish to be vaccinated.

The staff members are employed at the following locations: Nebraska State Penitentiary (1), Omaha Correctional Center (1), Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility (1) and Cornhusker State Industries (1). January 2, 2021 (Lincoln, Neb.) -- Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L). Anna Berg #392332 did not return from her work assignment in the community on January 1, 2021. The electronic monitoring device she was wearing was found inside a trash can just north of 27th and Cornhusker in Lincoln.

Berg started serving her sentence on February 3, 2020. She was sentenced to three years in prison on two counts...Read more

December 24, 2020 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – James Forsberg #46436, age 86, died just before 9:30 a.m. today at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). His sentence started on January 17, 1995. He was sentenced 50 years to life in prison for second degree murder out of Cedar County.
