Inmate dies at hospital

November 28, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Frank Johns #83335, age 51, died on November 27, 2020 at Bryan Medical Center-West. He was incarcerated at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP).

Johns started serving his sentence on January 6, 2016. He was sentenced 16- to 20-years on a combination of charges out of York, Hall, Buffalo, Lincoln, and Merrick counties that involved issuing bad checks, theft by deception and theft by unlawful taking.

November 28, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that four staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The staff members are employed at the following locations: Omaha Correctional Center (2), Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (1), and the Central Office (1). Frakes announced that three staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). November 26, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) -- Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L). Brandon Imes #85877 did not return as scheduled this morning from his work assignment in the community. The electronic monitoring device he was wearing was disabled.

November 23, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Director of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) Scott R. Frakes announced that an inmate in his 70s died today at a hospital in Lincoln. The inmate tested negative for COVID-19 when he was admitted to the hospital back in October. He was undergoing treatment for multiple medical issues. He recently tested positive for the virus.
