Cornhusker State Industries (CSI) prepares incarcerated men and women for successful reentry back into our communities through meaningful work experiences supplemented with training, education and certifications. As a 100% self-supporting correctional industries program of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS), CSI supports the NDCS goal of rehabilitation and reentry.
Our mission is to use work as a tool to prepare incarcerated men and women for successful reentry back into our communities through meaningful work experiences supplemented with training, education and certifications.
Our vision is to build opportunities for CSI workers to achieve gainful employment upon release, employing hundreds of incarcerated individuals daily at the Nebraska State Penitentiary, Reception and Treatment Center, Omaha Correctional Center, Nebraska Correctional Center for Women, and Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.
Our values: Individual Growth | Integrity | Engagement | Communication | Quality
- Individual Growth: Investing in staff and workers to develop their individual potential for success
- Integrity: Modeling and acknowledging that everyone plays an important role in demonstrating professional behavior and respect.
- Engagement: Fostering motivation, teamwork, and collaboration.
- Communication: Sharing knowledge, offering feedback and celebrating success.
- Quality: Ensuring quality in all processes to be a more effective organization.
Some jobs provided by CSI are welders, computer operators, forklift operators, carpenters, print press operators and more, as well as being responsible for the provision of incarcerated men and women road crews throughout the state.
