The Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) boasted an impressive garden haul this year.

The facility spent $246.91 on tomato plants, which produced 8,287 pounds of tomatoes; $13.32 on pepper plants, which produced 475 pounds of peppers; $29.25 on cucumber plants, which produced 3,216 pounds of cucumbers; and $15.03 on zucchini plants, which produced 2,321 pounds of zucchini.

On Nov. 20th around 9 a.m., team members at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) made an Emergency Response Team (ERT) call for a “staff member down.” Team members responded to the area where Cornhusker State Industries (CSI) team member Rolande (Rolly) Nielsen Jr. had collapsed while escorting a CSI truck. When team members arrived on scene and assessed Nielsen, he had no pulse and was not breathing. They called 911, began CPR immediately and utilized an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Five incarcerate individuals from the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility (NCYF) participated in a high school graduation ceremony on Nov. 9, but they represented a much larger group of individuals throughout the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS). These individuals have worked hard over the last year to finish something that, in some cases, they started many years ago.
