The Community Justice Center recently completed its 54th Restorative Justice – Victims Impact/Empathy (Life Skills) class at the Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC). Over 90 percent of class participants came away with who their victims really are, the impact their decisions have on those victims/communities and how to take care of their “emotional hygiene." Eighty percent of participants rated the class excellent. "It helped me learn new ways to control my anger," one participant said.Read more

On Dec. 19, incarcerated youth at the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility (NCYF) were offered the opportunity to attend a Christian Christmas Sing-A-Long hosted by the Rev. Monroe Relford of Pleasant Green Baptist Church, Deacon John Vrbka and NCYF volunteer Jesi Determan. Twenty-five inmates participated in the readings, prayers and singing, and enjoyed the treats provided.Read more

Incarcerated women at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW) recently completed the 27th Thinking For a Change (T4C) class. Many said lessons from the class helped them change their thought processes and reactions to difficult situations. Congratulations!Read more

On Dec. 17, Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility volunteer Sharika Ceasor led the youth population in an art activity to create cardboard gingerbread houses. The houses served as centerpieces for holiday meals on Christmas day.Read more

On Dec. 27, the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW) hosted its annual Families 4 Ever holiday event. The Survivors Club sponsored the day-long event with help from local businesses and supporters. Activities included games, snacks, blanket making and a surprise visitor.Read more
