Thanks to the dedication of clergy and religious volunteers, worship opportunities and religious programming are available to the population at facilities throughout Nebraska. Individuals living in community corrections facilities have access to religious services in the community as they prepare for a successful reentry.Read more

Last week, six NDCS Honor Guard members made the trip to Saint Louis, Missouri, to attend the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation (CPOF) Project 2000 Memorial Ceremony. NDCS and 27 other teams from across the United States and Canada united together to honor six correctional professionals who lost their lives in the line of duty.

This year NDCS Honor Guard Commander Jill Edelman spoke at the CPOF Project 2000 Memorial Banquet to share an incredible story and present a $15,000 check that will go towards the three remaining CPOF lifetime memberships for NDCS facilities. Several months of dedication culminated in this important achievement for these men at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). These individuals are recent graduates of the Thinking for a Change (T4C) program.

Created by the National Institute of Corrections, T4C is a high-level cognitive behavioral program that utilizes role playing to address attitude, behavior, family, friends and criminogenic thinking. Throughout the class, participants practice applying these skills learned with real-life scenarios. Moving forward, they can be confident that they have the tools to make positive choices.

Congratulations to these NDCS teammates for completing the First-Level Leader program! This three-day training was held at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) and included teammates who are interns at TSCI and part of the Corrections Leadership Scholarship Program with Peru State College.

The cohort took a deep dive into their strengths and how to utilize them to be effective leaders. They also learned about leading with influence and had the opportunity to ask questions of agency leadership during a panel discussion.
