IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Security Corporal John Sublette logs incarcerated individuals on his unit at the Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC). Sublette has been with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) since February of 2017. His main job duties include monitoring cameras, logging those entering and leaving the unit, answering phones and logging area checks, showers and yard times. “I like keeping track of things and I like the paperwork aspect,” Sublette said. “I like helping out when people need me.” #NDCSTeamMemberSpotlightRead more

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Corporal Tina Parks and Corporal Jeremy Arent review key logs and teletype print outs in the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center’s (DEC) central control. Parks has been with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) for 24 years and Arent has been with NDCS for four years. Their main job duties include keeping logs of the entire facility, ensuring counts are correct and processing new incarcerated individuals. “I like being assigned to Central Control because I like being part of a team,” Arent said. “Working Central gives me a chance to work with everyone on the shift.” #NDCSTeamMemberSpotlightRead more

Approximately 60 Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) team members graduated from a four-day Case Management Academy course on March 15. The Community Justice Center (CJC) completed its 83rd Restorative Justice “Victims Impact/Empathy/Life Skills Class” at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW) on March 14. Sixty-five percent of class participants rated the class as excellent. “It helped me to understand who I hurt and how I hurt them," one participant said.Read more

The Community Justice Center (CJC) completed its 15th Restorative Justice “Victims Impact/Empathy/Life Skills Class” at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) on March 13. Ninety-five percent of class participants said they gained insight into the effects their actions had on their victims and communities. “It helped me to understand the full impact of my crime and how to write a meaningful apology, as well as what restoration is,” one graduate said.Read more
