This month, incarcerated individuals and NDCS leaders took part in the Global Leadership Summit. All nine NDCS facilities were simulcast sites for the event, and participants had some amazing things to say about their experience. NDCS hosted a wellness fair yesterday for team members at our three Omaha facilities.

Team members were encouraged to come spend time with wellness vendors, play some games, enjoy healthy snacks and engage in all things wellness.

Recently NDCS leaders attended the Community Involvement Event at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Warden Craig Gable and Acting Warden Allison Drescher gave inspiring talks about the crucial role of community involvement in reentry. The guest speaker, an individual who was formerly incarcerated, shared his powerful journey and the impact of NDCS programs on his reintegration. Through a partnership with Metropolitan Community College (MCC) 180 Re-entry Assistance Program at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) and Cornhusker State Industries, MCC hosts a Career Readiness Center at TSCI, an area dedicated to offering workforce development through education to the incarcerated population.

Students have an opportunity to attend classes each quarter to earn career certificates in construction, electrical technology, information technology and manufacturing.
