Among her teammates, Caseworker Jennifer Johns is known for her stability, consistency and initiative. She holds herself to a high standard of performance and is always looking for ways to streamline processes.

Johns was selected as the Employee of the Month at the Lincoln Correctional Center (LCC). She uses her experience and excellent rapport with teammates throughout the facility to solve problems and create a cohesive working environment.

Administrative Assistant Rebecca Renken was a recipient of the Innovation Award at the NDCS Annual Awards. Renken was instrumental in creating and training team members to use the online visiting reservation system. She is proficient in all Microsoft Office software and is always eager to teach others. Renken is humble and truly cares for her teammates. She enjoys analyzing data to help make informed decisions that result in increased productivity. Process improvement projects often offer a new way of looking at things – not just in terms of how something works, but also in how people operate. Recently, senior NDCS leaders and support staff gathered to talk about duties assigned to administrative assistants. The process included identifying specific functions and the person best assigned to handle them as well as defining regular tasks versus special projects. Some duties were moved to best align with the role of the supervisor who oversees the position. In some cases, new duties were added. Teammates at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) note that Corporal (Cpl.) Lourdes O’Hara has a high level of integrity, motivation and professionalism. She is able to take charge of any situation and create a team atmosphere. Cpl. O’Hara was selected as a recipient of the Team Member of the Year Award. Cpl.
