NDCS employee arrested

March 4, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Ashlee Yeackley (26), a food service worker at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP), was arrested today by the Nebraska State Patrol for unauthorized communication with a prisoner (Neb. Rev. Stat. 83-417). She was booked into the Lancaster County Jail.

Yeackley has been employed by NDCS since February 2019 and has only been employed at the penitentiary. She will be suspended from her...Read more

Inmate dies at hospital

March 3, 2020 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – An inmate from the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) died at a hospital in Lincoln shortly before 7:00 p.m. on March 2, 2020.

James Malina #48565, age 83, began his sentence on August 5, 1996. He was serving a sentence of 89- to 170-years on charges out of Dodge County that included multiple counts of first degree sexual assault and two counts of child abuse...Read more

NDCS employee arrested

February 29, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Carley Broadfoot (20), a corporal at the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility (NCYF), was arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol on February 28, 2020 for unauthorized communication with a prisoner (Neb. Rev. Stat. 83-417). It is a Class IV felony.

Inmate dies at hospital

February 26, 2020 (Omaha, Neb.) – An inmate from the Omaha Correctional Center (OCC) died shortly after 2:30 p.m. today at the hospital. Bentley Buckner #52655, age 58, began serving his sentence on July 2, 1999. He received a sentence of 31 years and 8 months to 55 years for charges out of Douglas County that included robbery and false imprisonment.

NDCS employee arrested

February 26, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Brenda Alvarado (58), a chemical dependency counselor at the Omaha Correctional Center (OCC), was arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol on February 25, 2020 for unauthorized communication with a prisoner (Neb. Rev. Stat. 83-417).

Two staff members assaulted at NSP

February 22, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb) – An inmate at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) assaulted two staff members just before 6:30 p.m. Both team members were taken to the hospital for the treatment of serious* injuries.

Inmate arrested and returned to NDCS

February 21, 2020 (Omaha, Neb.) – An inmate who left the Community Corrections Center-Omaha (CCC-O) last week has been returned to the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS).
