RTC inmate death

October 15, 2024 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Vieng Bouaphakeo #216882, age 75, died on October 12, 2024 at the Reception and Treatment Center Skilled Nursing Facility.

Bouaphakeo’s sentence began on June 27, 2023. He was serving a nine to 10 year sentence out of Douglas County for theft.

While the cause of death has not yet been determined, Bouaphakeo was being treated for a medical condition. As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS), a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
