Corrections Month Fun Run

Thanks to the many NDCS participants who took part in the Corrections Month Fun Run & Virtual Race this spring. NDCS staff, family, friends and even man’s best friend joined in the fun!

Fun run participants walked, ran, swam or biked 5k or 10k, while those up for a more competitive experience used an app to record their results for the virtual race.

This annual event has become something teammates look forward to as a fantastic way to get outside, be active and kick off the warm weather season.Read more

Teammates mark service milestones

Congratulations to two longtime NDCS team members who recently reached significant service anniversary milestones.

Maintenance Specialist Alan Hausted celebrated 35 years of service and Office Specialist Anita Eberspacher marked 20 years of service. They bring invaluable experience, knowledge and dedication to their roles at the Nebraska State Penitentiary.Read more

Blues Behind Bars visits NDCS facilities

A drum set, guitars and a message of hope recently made a stop at NDCS facilities in Lincoln, Omaha, Tecumseh and York. Blues Behind Bars, a Colorado-based outreach program, has brought blues music and a Christian message to incarcerated individuals since 2009.

Class 622 graduates

June 8, 2022

From Washington to Maryland, Class 622 hailed from more than a dozen states across the country. After spending the last six weeks gaining valuable skills to use throughout their NDCS careers, this class graduated from the Staff Training Academy yesterday.

RTC celebrates Corrections Month

Teammates at the Reception and Treatment Center (RTC) take the extra "steps" to show appreciation for their team. In honor of Corrections Month in May, snacks were delivered to staff throughout the facility, offering a treat and appreciation for the work they do.

OCC Veterans Club holds Spring Symposium

A desire to honor our country's veterans unites this group of individuals at the Omaha Correctional Center (OCC). This week, the OCC Veterans Club held their Spring Symposium, which included a live band, a fallen comrades observance and presentation of certificates.

The Veterans Club is a group of like-minded individuals— both veterans and supporters— who come together to offer support and aid to veterans. They hold weekly meetings with a focus on successful reentry and any other issues facing veterans within the facility.
