Today, Warden Michele Capps brought together a group of Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) and other Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) team members to address inmate movement in the facility.

The team mapped out the various times that people are moving from one location to another on any given day. 
Each “sticky note” on the map in the photos represents movement of one or more people from one area to another, such as work locations, programming, medical, etc., between 4 a.m. and 8 p.m.

The team employed the talents of the process improvement coordinators and the LeanSixSigma methodology in a Kaizen-type event. The goal of the three-day project is to streamline movement, provide greater consistency, and create efficiencies within NSP.

Ultimately, the results of the project will lead to increased safety and security for inmates and staff members.
