Governor Ricketts visits TSCI
Governor Pete Ricketts spent last Thursday talking to team members throughout the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI).
His interest was in understanding the specific functions performed by team members in various roles. Ricketts assisted custody staff members at the gatehouse operating the X-ray machine and searching items coming into the facility. He sat in on a current events class in the education department. He interacted with the individuals involved in the Domesti-Pups program and then observed work in the Cornhusker State Industries (CSI) woodshop. CSI Shop Supervisor Sam Grof explained the operations in the woodshop and the contribution the various industries programs make toward the agency’s mission: ‘Keep people safe.’
Ricketts spent time in the tower, taking in the perspective this unique post provides. He worked with the corporals in Central Control, operating door locks and security cameras throughout the facility. He spoke to a 16-member new-hire training class. Ricketts' afternoon ended with a lunch with team members who had the opportunity to ask questions and receive his thoughts on the work of corrections and his vision for our state’s government.
Thank you for your visit, Governor.
