February 20, 2025 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Donald Wakefield #216917, age 54, died yesterday at the Reception and Treatment Center.

Wakefield’s sentence began on July 10, 2023. He was serving a sentence of seven to 10 years out of Sarpy County for fourth offense driving under the influence.

While the cause of death has not yet been determined, Wakefield was being treated for a medical condition. As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS), a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
