Corrections leads to long-lasting careers for siblings
It's no secret team members at the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) refer to each other as being a part of each other's families. For Cornhusker State Industries (CSI) Shop Operator Margie Hoss and her brother Steve Jordan, that’s exactly what they are. “I really enjoy seeing my brother once in a while at work.”
Hoss has worked for NDCS for nearly 15 years. Jordan has been the plumber at Omaha Correctional Center (OCC) for seven. They both have several people they can call their best friends at work. But Hoss noted having family at work to support you is also extra special and makes her smile.
Hoss and Jordan pose in their picture below. She noted there’s one special person missing from their family photo, and that’s their third sibling, Curtis Jordan. He encouraged both of them to apply at NDCS many years ago and is the reason they work here today. Hoss said he passed away in November of 2019 and miss him greatly. “Curt retired a couple of years ago from NDCS after working for more than 32 years here. Anyone who ever met him, loved him. He was well respected and is still thought of today.”
Even though the brother and sister duo stay pretty busy in different areas of the Omaha Correctional Center (OCC), Hoss said it’s always fun to run into him. Knowing he’s there each day is comforting and makes work fun when they can schedule things together. “We do try to plan out training together at the same time.”
