Inmate missing from community correctional facility

July 17, 2020 (Omaha, Neb.) -- Authorities have been notified about an inmate missing from the Community Corrections Center-Omaha (CCC-O). Matthew Layman #89705 got into a vehicle following a support group meeting in the community on the evening of July 16, 2020 and did not return to the facility.

NDCS staff members positive for COVID-19

July 14, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes announced that two staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). NSP inmate death

July 8, 2020 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Oddie Granger #89560, age 44, died at the Nebraska State Penitentiary at 9:27 a.m. today. His sentence started on May 9, 2019. Granger was convicted in Lancaster County on multiple counts of driving under the influence. He received a sentence of five years and six months.

While the cause of death has not been determined, Granger was being treated for a medical condition.
